The study and seminar are limited to critical biblical texts commonly used to support this position, and the historical roots of this notion. The project discusses definition of terms, church standards, traditions, gender concerns, and Christian principles, and concludes that the SDA church has no biblical basis for its teaching on this issue. Nineteenth-century cultural norms and inherited church traditions have influenced the church's position. Research in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church indicates that a sense of belonging is related to the age of the member.  While 90 percent of those above age 65 claimed a strong loyalty and attachment to the church, only 65 percent of those below age 45 expressed a sense of belonging. If a cultural gap is part of the problem, measures can be taken to help pastors develop greater cultural sensitivity. Surveys investigated differences between perceptions of pastors and members in an Appalachian conference of Seventh-Day Adventists.  Percentages, t-tests for independent means, and correlation coefficients examined the relationship between perceptions regarding Appalachian culture of church members and pastors at the .05 significance level.  All, but one, of the cultural clusters indicates cultural gaps. Second, a series of five sermons and five growth seminars were conducted with some married couples and persons contemplating marriage. Third, pre- and post-questionnaires were distributed in order to assess the understanding of what is being discussed.  From the comments that were made, the program seemed to have been a success.  Couples expressed improved mutual understanding and a desire to learn more.  The participants reached a better understanding of mutual intimacy, effective communication, mutual forgiveness, and marital maturation. Twenty-one members from an established congregation became the nucleus for the Augusta Church.  A ten-part church-planting plan was developed.  Northern New England church-planting vision progressed as the successful impact of the Augusta, Maine, church planting project unfolded.  The church plant has been successful following the church-plant plan. Two questionnaires were used in a quantitative analysis: Parental Bonding Instrument (modified), and the Valuegenesis survey. The findings revealed that bonding factors for Adventist young people can be determined.  A reliable bonding scale was constructed from six items measuring commitment to Jesus, religious faith, the local congregation, and the denomination as well as frequency of attendance at worship services.  The scale had a reliability alpha of .81 with item scale correlations ranging from .45 to .72. This project was designed to investigate the adult-learning literature and then produce a computer-based Bible study program that would interest and motivate the user to further investigation of the Bible's contents and message. The adult-learning literature survey yielded significant principles that were applied to the formulation of scripts and storyboards for a computer learning system called 'Tune in the Bible.'  This computer program was produced using the IBM development software, 'Linkway Live!'  Twelve participants were employed to review and evaluate the content, effectiveness, and operation of 'Tune in the Bible.' A survey instrument was administered prior to and following their use of the program. Many aspects of the adult-learning model can be successfully transferred to a computer-based learning system. For six consecutive weeks they met, and processed their grief pains and acquired insights on being caregivers to other grievers. The evaluation by the support group members revealed that they received much benefit in being able to look back at their losses and realistically come to terms 'with the finality of
