The project examines the development of the unique postmodern perspective on spirituality and how the preacher can speak to postmodern hearts and minds using the textual approaches of Midrash, Lectio Divina, and deconstruction. It culminates in the delivery of a workshop and accompanying workbook for preachers who are interested in using the Revised Common Lectionary to preach to postmoderns, particularly in the setting of the non-traditional church. The first chapter makes a case that a womanist hermeneutic can be used by preachers who are not black women. It is argued that effective preachers need tools that give them access to intersections of race, class, and gender for the sake of the preaching life. Preachers will be challenged to discern a theology of preaching to guide the use of any hermeneutic. The second chapter introduces preachers to womanist theology. The chapter begins with the origins of womanist theology in black and feminist theologies. A review of first, second, and third wave womanist contributions is highlighted. Finally, preachers will explore analysis of how non-black women are using methodologies of race, gender, and class. The third chapter moves us toward a womanist hermeneutic for preaching. A variety of styles of womanist interpretive criteria are presented.  Womanist strategies of reading and interrogating biblical texts are presented and each strategy is illustrated with a biblical text. The fourth chapter and the appendices share the testing method and results of the project. Assessment data is presented along with workshop participants' feedback and reflections. From a Christian perspective, a critical reading of the financial meltdown in the year 2008-from Pope Benedict VI, Archbishop Rowan Williams and Reverend Stephen Green, to name a few-pointed to a dichotomizing mindset underlying a lack of consistency in ethical behavior among individuals and corporates which precipitated this economic catastrophe in the first place. Against this backdrop, the overall objective of this thesis-project was to develop a template that would form the basis for a three-credit course to equip Ministers of the Word in their Ministry towards Corporate or Business Professionals. This study demonstrates how by both naming the obstacles presented by their tradition and uncovering potential sources of liberation and empowerment, Catholic women who preach may find encouragement to claim their identity and authority as preachers. Its research developed a definition for prophetic preaching by exploring the writings of the biblical prophets. It also studied the psychological, ecclesial, and cultural factors that encourage or discourage such preaching for today's priest. Through surveys and focus group sessions, the experience of today's Church with prophetic preaching was explored.
