The author tested this approach with a cohort of twelve Catholic pastoral ministers, lay and ordained. It gives passion, wisdom, improved skills, and new understanding to the preaching event, the preacher, and the community. The transition from the self-absorbed dynamics of the prisoner social structure to the mutual, interpersonal ideals of society is a difficult process.  This struggle to break free from the hold of prisonization is really a response to the call to be more human. To assess the level of effectiveness of this preaching strategy, the author conducted a survey. The responses from the limited survey suggest that the prophetic imagination is a useful tool that heightens awareness of racial dysfunction and brings people to conversion and action. Roman Catholic priests and parishioners participated in this case study. The researcher provided a one-day workshop on Lectio Divina and preaching preparation for the priests. He utilized focus groups for gathering qualitative data from both priests and parishioners. This thesis states that multimedia presentations will be useful for reaching the 'electronic generations' in the post-literate world.  This project presented the same homily to four different university groups.  Two groups heard the homily and saw a simultaneous video presentation.  The other two heard only the oral/aural presentation.  The participants answered questionnaires, and two groups participated in focus group discussions.  Quantitative results were neutral, with a slight leaning in support of the thesis. The author first lays the theological, homiletic, and hermeneutical groundwork and then applies the theory to the development of a faith-sharing resource.  A survey was conducted primarily to test whether a critical and contextual biblical hermeneutical process would improve the quality of the group's homiletic experience--especially a greater forging of Christian praxis. There are distinct preacher identities, and these can be determined as an outcome of a preaching survey. Data from a survey conducted among priests established three preacher identities: disciple, entertainer, and teacher. The study examines the formation needs for each identity while exploring pedagogics and methods, and presents a model for forming preachers using identity on the foundation that an understanding of preacher identity can result in better preaching.
