Four groups of active, long-term church members answered a questionnaire, pre-intervention, prepared by the author.  Three groups out of the four received the intervention of professionally marketed inventories with the fourth group being the control group.  Post-intervention all four groups again answered the author's questionnaire.  The changes they made on the questionnaire post-intervention showed no significant difference between the control group and those receiving intervention. One was a six-week interactive course; the other was an intensive one-day workshop.  Though there were some differences, both proved effective.  Seventeen volunteers participated and final assessments indicated increased levels of awareness and understanding.  Leadership ideas are suggested throughout, as well as an easily understood list of spiritual gifts, plus extensive bibliography. A small group met for twelve weekly meetings to learn to practice spiritual disciplines and discover their spiritual gifts.  A pre-test and post-test were administered as well as a self-evaluation and course evaluation. The workshop tested for and taught about spiritual gifts and personality type.  It proved to be beneficial for participants seeking to know how best to serve Christ in the context of the local church.
