Research was conducted by means of a detailed questionnaire mailed to 114 ministers-at-large; a briefer questionnaire was sent to church contact persons and denominational regional staff. People associated with Mennonite churches in Winnipeg are the focus of this study. The study works with two hypotheses: first, there is domestic violence among Mennonites, and second, that people in abusive situations turn to the church for help. The research group was a random sampling of eleven American Baptist churches in the San Diego area.  A questionnaire was given to determine the believer's level of participation in, attitude towards, and understanding of the Lord's Supper.  Those in the top twenty percent and bottom twenty percent were given Pittard's Revised Commitment Test.
