The researcher found that a successful leadership succession depends upon a well-planned transition. The research consisted of a case study of four small independent churches. The researcher compared the traditional and apostolic approaches to leadership succession. Through grounded theory and coding of the data, the researcher identified factors that contribute to both the positives and obstacles of a good leadership succession.
