A case study of ten established mid-sized churches that have walked the road to renewal served as the framework for the research. Data from pastoral interviews and lay leadership surveys were the means by which the case studies are analyzed. In addition, the researcher conducted surveys and interviews to assess the current realities, challenges, and trends in doing missions in the Philippines. Research design methods included a two-part data collection effort. Part one consisted of a wide-scope examination of the general nature of leadership. Part two contained a focused, three-phased analysis of American African leadership figures. Data taken from project research revealed the nature of American African leadership development. Additional research revealed ineffective leadership paradigms such as a black theology of liberation. This lack of integrity has contributed to a multitude of dysfunctional clergy. Sexual immorality is not predicated on race, gender, status, personality, or intelligence and is ultimately the minister's choice.
