Being aware of the importance of musical expression, the author, a pastor and musician, compiled The Richmond Psalter.  Intended as an introduction to psalmody for those with little background, it contains musical settings for 28 psalms.  Each psalm is introduced by brief commentary regarding its formal structure and theological implications. The Study Guide designed by the author for this project report was used in a group of eight persons.  The Study Guide was structured to assist the participants in a learning process towards growth.  It was a learning process that merged the cognitive (empirical knowledge of six selected Psalms) with the affective (the participant's feelings while responding to the emotional utterances of the psalmist).  It was a learning experience that proved to be different for most of the participants in that it was a spiritual growth experience.
