The author realized that his ministry could be significantly hampered because it lacked pertinent developmental understanding of his parishioners.  The project's process involved three primary components: individual interviews with subsequent Fowlerian interpretations, a group evaluative meeting, and a concluding questionnaire. The project took place within a congregation in the United Church of Canada and involved 36 session members who were responsible with the minister for the congregation's spiritual oversight. The design of learning experiences begins with an interview to elicit expectations and a period of guided individual learning with a sponsor.  Then, group meetings explore faith and Christian living.  Daily Bible readings expand each meeting theme during the week.  Participants expressed six types of expectations which motivated their learnings, and their growth is correlated to Fowler's faith development theory.
