The new 'United Methodist Hymnal: Book of United Methodist Worship' contains services or word and table that allow for the celebrant to create varieties in the prayer.  This project contains 26 eucharistic prayers based on the Common Lectionary rather than the season.  The project also examines the history of the prayer, Wesley's approach to the sacrament, and how the 1988 United Methodist liturgy developed. It provides an edition of General Intercessions suitable for use during the celebration of the eucharist.  Upon the thesis that the Intercessions are a response to the proclamation of the word in the assembly, the Intercessions of this edition are drawn upon biblical texts of the day.
