Intended as an introduction to psalmody for those with little background, it contains musical settings for 28 psalms.  Each psalm is introduced by brief commentary regarding its formal structure and theological implications. The context of the project was a three week clinical course in hospital ministry based on the pastoral counseling theories of Adams, Hiltner, and Clinebell and Carl Rogers' ideas.  The results from the project revealed a bell-shaped pattern of change. Research material is drawn from interviews with 31 physicians and from personal experiences in dealing with cancer.  Material is included for a four-week seminar titled: 'Your faith and your health'.  Five sermons are also included. A community service model was developed to help promote student volunteering, blood drives, and mission by the local church.  A pilot study using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory showed: 1) levels of anxiety decrease following a blood donation, and 2) the number of previous blood donations decreases the levels of anxiety.  An analogy drawn between the blood donor table and the Table of the Lord demonstrated parallels. The introduction of Western cultural norms through the process of modernization was readily accepted as a basis for marriage and family life.  However, the continued influence of the traditional family-orientation was to be a significant cause of dysfunctional marriages among these couples.
