This vision encouraged the author, integrating his eleven years of pastoral experience in the Hong Kong Methodist Church, to implement a fourteen three-hour weekly session program for a group of married couples at the Cleveland Chinese Christian Church, Ohio. The result was obvious: each couple successfully formed a family group and helped to nurture the whole congregation. Later, new missions were started. His view of this overall spiritual process incorporates elements of both particular crises and processes and is 'systemic' in nature, involving cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions of human experience. This project of ten weekly two-hour small group learning experiences employed pretest and both immediate and delayed posttest evaluations of participants' understanding. Its biblical and historical antecedents are found respectively in the New Testament ecclesia and in John Wesley's ministry of evangelism in eighteenth century England. This comprehensive ministry includes three elements: a sound theological foundation, a strong faith-serving ministry, and a well organized faith-sharing ministry, which, when in place, can improve the evangelism ministries of Caribbean congregations. This hypothesis is successfully tested in a workshop designed to equip local pastors and laity for evangelism ministries."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Candler School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["1e360310-aec8-4e88-a19a-00b4db71ef4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135094676652032,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:45:37.007Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:28:10Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:45:42Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ea025db9-ee8d-4120-9e7d-d850247a6a10","accessControl_ssim":["d4491827-f8da-41ef-a497-ce27112695a1"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Crisis in religious advocacy"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:28:07Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:49:58Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["9fd1c016-a0d9-42c6-87d7-b550973e9142"],"hasLease_ssim":["7559f8a2-37fd-42d3-82d7-60149a13cfd6"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Candler School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Steven M Tipton"],"year_tesim":["1992"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Arthur B Keys"],"publisher_tesim":["Candler School of Theology of Emory University"],"subject_tesim":["Social justice","Interfaith Impact for Justice and Peace","Religious pluralism","Christianity and politics"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The crisis in mainline religious advocacy in 1992 is described by laying out dangers of radical religious pluralism posed by divisions wtihin religious denominations and larger society. The experiment represented an attempt to move a mainline local church toward a more activist mission orientation in relation to its social and economic context. It explores the thesis that pastoral leadership which aims at engaging church leaders in theological reflection about their identity and context will lead to an experience of revitalization. The experiment in interpretive guidance failed to achieve significant change in the mission orientation of this church toward its community. However, the experiment did succeed in allowing members of the ministry group to begin to experience a greater degree of community by creating a greater awareness of the ways self-reliance and privatization were inhibiting that very mission."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Candler School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["1e360310-aec8-4e88-a19a-00b4db71ef4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135115756175360,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:45:57.110Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:52:50Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:42:20Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5dfe0033-3d40-4113-8c61-c22a7a561248","accessControl_ssim":["49cb8054-a59a-4c3c-ac87-3fe5ecb156e8"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Images of God and the experience of motherhood"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:52:49Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:53:48Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["9300a13d-2ba2-4afc-a4bf-e0b09a4e6ef7"],"hasLease_ssim":["ee42b24f-8ad0-422e-869a-2ac7a0dd52be"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Candler School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Roberta Bondi"],"year_tesim":["1992"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Ann B Glenn"],"keyword_tesim":["Reflection (Theology)"],"publisher_tesim":["Candler School of Theology of Emory University"],"subject_tesim":["Women--Religious life","Theology","Image of God","Motherhood"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The relevance of God in one's life is dependent upon an individual's openness to the total scope of God's existence and characteristics.
