With the event of film technology, still another Jesus is introduced--what might be called the 'filmlical' Jesus.  It is important for people, both within and outside of the church, to view these films critically, so that they are not misinformed or confused by distorted accounts--assuming them to be the gospel.  Following an introduction, the evolution of the Jesus film genre is explored in Chapters 2-6: The 'Silent' Jesus (silent films); the 'faceless' Jesus (1950s-60s epics); the 'real' Jesus (1960s-70s attempts at historical authenticity); Jesus--the song and dance man (musicals); and the 'human' Jesus (Jesus' humanity explored).  Chapter 7 provides suggestions of how the Jesus films can be used in the program/educational life of the local church; Chapter 8 offers some final thoughts. The appendices include an annotated list of Jesus films and a list of film/video distributors and resources for finding Jesus films to view and study."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132108365758464,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:58:09.039Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:37:29Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:54:51Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"61d1624b-108e-4248-a8d3-03d31d905d36","accessControl_ssim":["54b80ff4-867c-41fe-8606-f079b110cc86"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Continuing education in a theological context: called to be a learner all your life"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:37:28Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:59:37Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["49fe0f72-1a1e-47fc-8683-4d0be999a799"],"hasLease_ssim":["545098a7-3165-4e86-b585-fd9afd32e09a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Mary E Moore"],"year_tesim":["1995"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Kay Ward"],"publisher_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Clergy--Training of"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Learning is a lifelong process for all persons, especially for those who are called to ministry in the church.  It is continuing, meaning that it is an ongoing process throughout one's life; it is theological, meaning that it is motivated, guided and informed by theology; and it is educational, meaning that it is concerned with the theories and methods of teaching and learning.  This work explores the nature of seminary continuing education as it has developed professionally, drawing from records and anecdotes of the Society for the Advancement of Continuing Education in Ministry.  The focus then shifts to the concerns of the church.  Finally, the paper narrows to the context of the Moravian Church and its concern for continuing education, as well as a look at two historical figures that have played a prominent role in both theology and education, John Amos Comenius and Nicolaus Ludwig von Zinzendorf. The project concludes with a focused look at each of the three elements of the thesis, beginning with the theological interest of continuing education, theology as content, as method, and motivation for participation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131904122028032,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:54:54.257Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:37:29Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:55:07Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"68f6e042-7091-4783-a178-c11073b92752","accessControl_ssim":["dbd8f4a2-20d8-4965-aa6f-642dfd711e02"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Christian Tai Chi meditation: a cultivating awareness of god in all things through Ignatian and Taoist practices"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:37:28Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:12:22Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["cd0317df-6062-4658-8224-81826b3319a7"],"hasLease_ssim":["90e99ba6-7dba-4e02-9e8c-bd5fc424abbc"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Frank Rogers"],"year_tesim":["1995"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Joseph Le"],"publisher_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Meditation--Taoism","Tai chi","Prayer","Ignatius, of Loyola, Saint, 1491-1556"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Prayer is an important dimension of both Eastern and Western religions. However, people within Western and Eastern traditions are unaware of or do not understand each other's ways of obtaining inner peace.  Two rich forms of prayer are largely unknown apart from their respective traditions are Ignatian prayer practices and Taoist prayer practices.  This project builds a bridge that connects these two streams so that Eastern and Western people can come to know and love one another more for the holistic well-being of humanity.  This project discusses Taoist and Ignatian spirituality and integrates them at the level of both theory and practice.  The study demonstrates how, while neither tradition is deficient in its own right, each can complement the other and enlarge the whole spiritual experience for Christians--to be whole, and to be complete in body, mind and spirit. A model for this integration of Ignatian prayer practices and Taoist meditation practices is 'Awareness of God in all things.'  'Awareness of God in all things' is loving and praising God in all things and can help us to become more mindful of God's love for us."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131920718888960,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:55:10.085Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:37:28Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:54:06Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4eee1c5f-33f8-4269-80aa-3f801ce1c9b4","accessControl_ssim":["abadceb6-ae03-4ced-b885-930e414919ad"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Theological reflection on and reformation of preaching focusing on the Presbyterian Church in the Republic of Korea (PROK)"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:37:27Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:26:59Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["250b95df-d84d-416e-915e-592475802dc3"],"hasLease_ssim":["61a3a563-88a4-485b-9f8a-be381a52b84e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["J Irwin Trotter"],"year_tesim":["1995"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Chang Ju Kim"],"publisher_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Preaching, Reformed","Presbyterian Church of Korea"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project focuses on the beginning and growth of the PROK within the history of Korean Christianity.  From its beginning, the churches of the PROK have had the freedom to study and express their theological knowledge. The PROK reformed with the acceptance of contemporary biblical criticism over the strong fundamentalism which insisted on the infallibility of the Bible and the theory of its mechanical inspiration.  Sermons by chosen scholars, including sermons by Rev Chaejoon Kim, a founder of the PROK, and contemporary preachers, show the clear characteristics of PROK distinctions.  The sermons are scholarly, political, topical, in-directive, and based on a manuscript, but there are some excpetions, as well. This project suggests a few directions to reform the preaching in the PROK--that Reformed preaching should be holistic, biblical, didactic, and liberation oriented. Even though there have emerged many theologies in the world since the radical theological movements of the 1960s, none of these theologies have been sufficient or proper contextual theologies for Korea.  This theology is in fact an integreation and supplementation of two Korean contextual theologies: Minjung and Tochakwha theologies.  Therefore, this theology is the direct expression of the socio-political and cultural dimensions of the Korean people.  As a paradigm of theology of preaching, this theology will result in contextual preaching.  The preachers are also expected to pay attention to the Korean social and cultural context as working theologians. Therefore, they weep, confess, and resist with the community and people in terms of having solidarity against the issues of contextual evil."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131825865752576,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:53:39.626Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:36:59Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:57:05Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"937ee97e-5bff-418c-90aa-caf959d11bf5","accessControl_ssim":["df43ed98-9ac8-42c9-a93a-77da1c69b706"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Subjective religious experience among Unitarian Universalists: a generational study"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:36:58Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:27:03Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["700dc487-f75b-4809-913f-e98b886fae19"],"hasLease_ssim":["97f3fc85-6cd5-4dd8-8cdd-cb0b2da0101e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Ann Taves"],"year_tesim":["1995"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Linda S Stowell"],"publisher_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Unitarian Universalists","Experience (Religion)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The thesis of this project is that differences in frequency and type of subjective experiences found among contemporary Unitarian Universalists, as well as frames for interpreting and valuing such experiences, correlate with generation, in particular with generation interacting with gender. Quite simply, one generation is having to take care of two generations.  This occurs as older members of society live longer than historically has been the case. Thus, the dilemma of the middle generation, identified as the sandwich generation, is exacerbated by caring for both children at home and elderly parents who need physical, financial, or medical assistance, creating a drain on the resources of all family members.  This project examines the factors contributing to this phenomena, primarily through a review of contemporary literature.  The project also addresses possible ways to alleviate the burden placed upon the sandwich generation, and what the future of the family holds if current trends continue.  The church should play a significant role in the life of the elderly. In so doing, it assists the sandwich generation in caring for elderly parents.  A primary goal of this project is to formulate an educational series that teaches its members how to address the dilemma of the sandwich generation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131801594363904,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:53:16.479Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":10,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Chang Ju Kim","hits":1,"label":"Chang Ju Kim"},{"value":"Charles R Roots","hits":1,"label":"Charles R Roots"},{"value":"Curtis E Miner","hits":1,"label":"Curtis E Miner"},{"value":"Il-Koo Cho","hits":1,"label":"Il-Koo Cho"},{"value":"Joseph Le","hits":1,"label":"Joseph Le"},{"value":"Kay Ward","hits":1,"label":"Kay Ward"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[{"value":"Jesus Christ in film","hits":1,"label":"Jesus Christ in film"}],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Bible--Homiletic use","hits":1,"label":"Bible--Homiletic use"},{"value":"Christian education","hits":1,"label":"Christian education"},{"value":"Church work with families","hits":1,"label":"Church work with families"},{"value":"Clergy--Training of","hits":1,"label":"Clergy--Training of"},{"value":"Experience (Religion)","hits":1,"label":"Experience (Religion)"},{"value":"Ignatius, of Loyola, Saint, 1491-1556","hits":1,"label":"Ignatius, of Loyola, Saint, 1491-1556"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[{"value":"Korea","hits":1,"label":"Korea"}],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":10,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Claremont School of Theology","hits":10,"label":"Claremont School of Theology"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":10,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"1995","hits":10,"label":"1995"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Claremont School of Theology","hits":10,"label":"Claremont School of Theology"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":10,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Claremont School of Theology","hits":10,"label":"Claremont School of Theology"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":10,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":10,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
