There is not a great deal on religious coping mechanisms. This project examines how veterans use religious coping mechanisms to deal with their PTSD. Trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder in the experience of disasters, especially as they relate to loss of place, are studied. Identification with place and the loss of place in the Katrina disaster are examined, specifically at Grace Episcopal Church and the Mid-City neighborhood. This project focuses on the case study of a particular client and upon the indications for a beneficial treatment modality. The process of her complicated grief is explored from the perspective of overlying post-traumatic stress. A treatment modality developed by Therese A.
