The project's hypothesis confront an uncertainty, namely that it is uncertain whether Redeemer's structure influences members to participate in the practice of discipleship. The project is accomplished first through bibliographic research into the biblical, theological, historical, and practical nature of this relationship, and then second through field research investigating this relationship at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Richmond, Virginia. Younger generations will need to fill the inevitable void in congregational leadership that comes with time. To affect the transfer of leadership from one generation to another, the current leaders need to be prepared to share the leadership with people who see the world differently. The researcher conducted a congregational survey and analyzed responses from two focus group interviews. This project assessed how a leadership retreat and an adult education seminar affected the participants' attitudes and behaviors regarding the transfer of leadership to younger generations. This project used fourteen postmodern people in four critical events to expose them to biblical conflict reconciliation ministry. The following themes were used: relationships, communication, conflict, and reconciliation. The participants were interviewed and tested using a variety of research tools. The guidelines are intended to give direction to the pastors of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Peoria, Illinois, and also to assist other pastors. Since the pastors at Redeemer Lutheran Church currently use projection media for sermons, this project was intended to hone and clarify what they are already doing. Since many pastors seek to use projection to enhance their sermons, this project was designed to assist them in doing so. The primary component of this study was a series of 8 sermons preached by the researcher. The subjects in the study were tested for retention and comprehension of the sermon material as well as slide content. The study actually produced the opposite of what was expected, but on the basis of the acquired information, pastors were able to make adjustments to their usage and the research provided reasoned guidelines reflecting what was learned. After exploring humor's effects on listeners and which types of humor are more beneficial in the task of preaching through theoretical research, the data was investigated through the use of questionnaires, personal interviews with church members, and a focus group. After analyzing the participants' responses, the researcher developed a list of guidelines for the beneficial use of humor in his preaching. Familt Systems Theory is an avenue whereby the power of Jesus can be experienced. Conflict itself is only a part of the picture; equally important is the management of conflict. This project collects information from the field through district presidents within the Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod (LCMS) along with consultants who assist congregations and church organizations that find themselves in conflict. Combining God's Word with an outside source for help provides a church with a resource to help reconcile relationships and resolve conflicts that may not be resolvable using internal procedures. Through interviews of congregational leaders and randomly selected members, the researcher assessed the pre-decision knowledge and attitude of the members concerning the topic. A presentation on the topic was then prepared and presented to the congregation. Following the decision, those members involved were questioned as to what factors contributed to their decision. It considers theological research in the area of evangelism and reviews current literature about outreach, focusing on relationships, friendship evangelism, and using recreational settings in outreach. Described are the processes and methods that were used to develop, implement, and evaluate the training of laypeople to become better witnesses in recreational settings. The findings suggest that training for evangelism in recreational settings used in conjunction and the use of such recreational settings used for intentional evangelism help those providing a Christian witness. This project acknowledges the need to mobilize the church to be stewards of the environment, and develops a course of study to be used in our congregations to make people aware of their responsibilites and motivations. The class was field tested at The Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Evansville, Indiana. Surveys and statistical analysis demonstrate that this class waswell received and
