This project aims to assist local churches in developing a philosophy of endowment usage and in identifying proper legal terminology to assist them in directing such gifts work at home and abroad.  The project surveys churches with endowment funds in existence.  Copies of legal documents, histories of funds from their inception, mechanics of annual interest distribution, and documentation of effects on local ministries were assembled and evaluated. The project analyzes and seeks means to counter falling enrollment at one such school, Kobe Lutheran Bible Institute in Japan. The project distributed questionnaires from graduates and from other schools in similar settings.  Findings revealed that socioeconomic factors and failure of the school to adapt to needs of the national church were the main causes of declining support. He polled members concerning devotional life practices, and obstacles hindering such practices.  He then developed classes which provide attendees with an understanding of the Bible's divine source and the blessings the Holy Spirit works through devotions.  He introduced attendees to several Bible translations, devotional books for individuals and families, and Bible study helps. In this project/dissertation the writer has constructed a research of the married life of participants and administered an experiment for nine weeks. The methodology in this project to measure the improvement of the marriage enrichment was for the experimental and control groups to take two tests: a pre-test before the program, and a post-test three months after the end of the program. The gospel of Luke records that first century hearers of the gospel altered their relationship with possessions by either abandoning or sharing them with others in need.  When Jesus instructed his disciples to take nothing for their missionary journey he expected that their radical dependence on God for necessities would speak as loudly as their words.  Twenty-five participants were asked to study Luke/Acts on this subject and a paper on simplicity as a practical application of Jesus' teaching to the 1990s.  After a two-month period written reports from each participant were summarized in the conclusion of the dissertation. It makes a shift from factors that lead the church to be pastor-centered and also lead pastors into the hierarchical form of leadership ministry.  The initial chapter examines the foundational notions of Christian spirituality, of leadership, and of the laity.  The second chapter reviews the biblical definition and models of the church as the community of faith.
