The method of research was a qualitative research. In 2005, six interviews were conducted, each with a staff person responsible for family ministry in a large evangelical church. Implementation of family ministries varied due to the churches makeup and vision. All staff persons mentioned their focus is on preventing family problems rather than solving them through counseling. Kirk of the Hills, a PCA church in St. Louis, Missouri, is currently using the model for pastoral care as proposed for large churches.  Questionnaires were completed by those in leadership and by active church members to determine the degree of effectiveness of pastoral care.
