It was the author's hypothesis that they did not. A qualitative research project was conducted, which included a literature review and interviews with twelve EPC pastors all of whom had at least ten years of ministry experience. This study confirmed the author's initial belief that preaching through Revelation is being neglected by EPC pastors. factor's such as absence of significant seminary training in Revelation, a perceived lack of practical application for today's listener and a deficiency of pastor's personal study in the book were all contributing factors. Previously, EPs were informed about their roles through networking. Though deployed in churches for over 20 years, many EPs forged their own job-descriptions and not all EPs share the same titles or tasks. The essence of the role is lifting the administrative burden from the senior pastor (SP). Recent studies have explored the value of utilizing EPs to implement the church's vision, as well as the competencies needed to do so. Though some EPs recognize a transitory dimension to their role there are common principles and experiences for most EPs. This study looks into contextual and relational factors affecting the senior pastor/executive pastor team paradigm. EP focus groups and SP phone interviews were utilized as supplemental explorations of themes revealed during initial interaction with knowledgeable informants. The reasons for the creation of the EP position in the participating churches was explored, as well as current staffing arrangements and dynamics. Of particular importance was the creation and maintenance of the primary relationship, that between the EP and the SP. Common practices and attitudes must be in place to make an SPEP team successful and thus beneficial to the church. To understand these factors, helpful principles, stories, proverbs, and analogies were discussed. Even survivors who expected the death suffer and do not know how to deal with it. The death of their loved one demands they deal with the experience of death whether they want to or not. Many Korean-American pastors and congregations would like to comfort them but may not know how. Korean-American survivors may even be ignored by their pastors and churches. As a Korean-American chaplain, even I sometimes feel challenged to know how to care for them. I would like to see Korean-American people cared for by Korean-American congregations. But I also want Korean-Americans to be cared for by other Christians. My purpose in this dissertation is to help improve the way Korean-American pastors and their congregations care for survivors. This study was a qualitative examination of the process by which deacons and elders developed into effective spiritual shepherds in their local churches. The study utilized focus groups comprised of four to five men each. The author gleaned the following three conclusions: 1. The calling to spiritual shepherding came soon after conversion. 2. The character necessary to spiritual shepherding formed through the influence of God-appointed individuals. 3. It provides biblical theological reflection, guidelines, and ideas for the use of visual display art. The following research questions guide this study: 1. what led to the present or past use of visual display art? 2. what has been the result of using display art in congregational life and ministry? 3. what, if any, efforts are being made to change the role of visual display art in congregational life and ministry? This research is a qualitative examination of visual display art and its role in the past, present, and plans for the future of Reformed and Presbyterian congregations. This study uses information gathered from two focus groups and seventeen interviews to gain insight into congregations from seven different denominations, all with roots in the Reformed and Presbyterian tradition. Among the lesson learned from this study and research, the following insights form the central findings: 1. Biblical and theological reflection does not support a complete separation from involvement in or use of visual arts in the individual, family, or corporate lives of Christians. 2. The presence of visual display art in the buildings and programs of churches with a Reformed and Presbyterian heritage currently has limited scope; moreover, there is little knowledge among most members as to how these visual pieces came into use. 3. The evaluation of the use of visuals in the life of a particular congregation is informal and sketchy at best. 3. The qualitative study of six United Methodist churches affected by the divorce of their pastors, this study addresses the minimally researched phenomenon of how clergy divorce affects a local church and the factors that influence a local church in its recovery. The author discovered that a local churches recovery is influenced by various relationships that exist between the pastor and the local church.
