The project's purpose required a transition from a Deacon Family Ministry Plan to an identity-based deacon ministry plan. Participating deacons discovered their God-given identities through a combination of a spiritual gifts inventory, DISC Profile and one-on-one coaching provided by the candidate. It was developed by Pastor Malaku Mekuria for the members of this church, so as to be effective and fruitful members of the body of Christ as they ministry in the church. Nine people from Maranatha Fellowship were trained for seven weeks in the subject of the discovery of spiritual gifts. This hypothesis was investigated using a group of eleven lay leaders who are responsible for the management of church committees and organizations.  The project group identified their spiritual gifts and their normal leadership styles.  The author conducted objective and subjective tests of the group's leadership performance level before and after the project.  He used the descriptive survey method to analyze and evaluate the group's performance.  The project group's leadership performance of eight normal leadership tasks increased 12 percent due to the training.  Objective application of new leadership skills also increased the participants' efficiency.
