Various means were used to determine that perceptible attitudinal changes, attendance patterns, financial contributions, and growth of friendships were positively affected by the mission project, which involved building site activity, financial support, lunch-making and praying. Clergy respondents prefer a leadership style of people orientation.  In transitional communities, church growth is correlated with population changes and church programming. Included are stories of formerly declining mid-sized congregations that have increased in worship attendance in the 1990's, and in which a contributing factor is the adoption of cultural inclusivity. Case studies were formulated from on-site interviews and demographic data in order to identify similar tactics used in the revitalization processes. Observation about the essence of the churches' vitality emerged.
