The research focused on how ten patients responded to the process of a chaplain obtaining a spiritual life review, and then compared their physical, cognitive, and affective responses to twenty patients in two control groups.  All thirty patients' responses were measured at the beginning and the conclusion of the study. The concern for service carries out the practices of the Society of Friends (Quakers).  The question studied was the effects of requiring community service.  Pre and post test measures were taken using instruments to measure self-esteem, social and personal responsibility.  Interview and group discussion were used to gather data.  The students in this study showed a significant increase in social and personal responsibility.  Self-esteem did not change significantly. The data obtained, which includes response from physicians to a write-up summarizing and assessing patients' history and a questionnaire patients returned following their discharge, indicated that sharing their history was a positive experience for ten of the twelve patients interviewed. A model for understanding the clergy divorce process emerged with recommendations for pastoral care and counseling.  The data confirms that clergy with children experience fourteen predictable salient events and clergy without children experience twelve salient events in the divorce process.  This modified ethnographic study demonstrates that some of these events are more painful than others. A 1982 survey of congregations found sixty-nine percent with pastor pattern, sixteen percent bench, and eleven percent team.  A 1985 sampling of members showed substantial advocacy for broad sharing of leadership, with strongest support in team churches and least in bench. Fifteen parish clergy in the Archdiocese of Baltimore were interviewed.  The history of infant baptism along with current canon law is examined to put the unchurched parent problem in context. The four section course, which covers stress theory, major and minor biofeedback instruments, and use in context of pastoral care and counseling, was prepared and tested with twenty-five clergy during a three month period. These cases demonstrate that such persons, regardless of impairment, can grow through experience of God's love in trustful interpersonal relationships.  The cases also show that, in spite of recent improvement, some persons continue to be neglected and abused in institutions. This difficulty is because Bermuda is a foreign country, and is exacerbated by its size, location and the failure to anticipate how different working there will be.  Through a series of interviews of expatriates in ministry there and questionnaires to expatriates formerly in Bermuda a document was produced which describes the difficulties likely to be experienced.
