Students have needs that can be met by the BSU director (campus minister) being involved on campus by teaching a class.  An orientation class was taught using ideas observed and researched by the director.  Class time consisted of lectures, guest speakers, questionnaires, class participation, games and a video. The result was that needs of the college students were discovered. This preaching project made use of study sessions to introduce concepts such as the apocalyptic genre, Christ-culture models, and the confessing church theme. Pre- and post-tests and listening team questionnaires provided measurement of attitudes toward the literature and the issue of Christians relating to culture. The sessions explored basic models of communication, understanding oneself in the context of communication, developing verbal skills, developing nonverbal skills, and developing listening skills.  Two testing instruments were used as pre-tests and post-tests.  Test scores indicated a significant increase in interpersonal communication skills. The manual proceeds from a broad purpose statement through scope, educational goals, educational objectives, context, instructional models, and administrative model to specific course descriptions.
