Questionnaires were sent to all 43 congregations, and all were returned.  Data was also collected from the 1997 PCA Yearbook.  The churches were then ranked, and five each were selected from the top, middle, and bottom third, and their pastors interviewed concerning the missions giving of their congregations. Sacramental giving grasps the promise of life through Jesus Christ, obeys the dominical imperative to lay down one's life for the sake of others, signs the promise of God in Christ to the giver, to the receiver of the gift, or to others, and brings strength, joy and blessing to the giver.  The task of the Christian fund raiser is to nurture such giving.  That is accomplished by approaching the fund raising task with a biblical theology of humankind and the church.
