Preparation involved research in understanding the larger culture of our country, Maslow's hierarchy of needs, the context of the ministry and understanding a clear theological purpose justifying the project. Some collaboration between the Jerusalem United Holy Church and other agencies was part of the project, especially in identifying the children and exposing them to positive experiences. The project involved training mentors for the children by use of a PowerPoint presentation and measuring the effectiveness with pre- and post-tests. The project was located in the Mount Zion Baptist Church, the local jail of Great Falls, South Carolina and the Catawba Regional Correctional Institution, South Carolina Department of Corrections, Rock Hill, South Carolina.
