It will be accomplished by providing a baseline awareness of their anxiety level and introducing tools to bring their baseline down. The tools used were Bible stories, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Family Systems Theory, and centering prayer. The tools were presented in the form of a Friday night and Saturday morning retreat. Data was collected in three different ways. The Beck Anxiety Inventory was used during the retreat to track baseline anxiety. An essay questionnaire was given a month after the retreat to gain progress and engagement. Finally, six months out from the retreat, a survey using a Likert scale of 1-10 was submitted by the participants. What makes this retreat and The Sourcebook unique is that it integrates the Hindu chakra system and world spiritual traditions. The chakra system is an ancient belief that there are energy centers in the body that govern daily activity. The manual was used in a weekend retreat with a small group of church lay leaders. Pre- and post-retreat testing indicated considerable improvement in participants' understanding of the nature and mission of the church. The project involves the drafting of a preliminary mission statement by the parish strategic planning committee, and the opportunity for reaction and input by the parishioners and organizations of parish to the preliminary statement.  A final version of the mission statement will then be developed through a parish leadership retreat weekend and a second drafting by the strategic planning committee.  The Parish Mission Statement will then be presented to the parish, and the adoption of the statement will take place through a signing of a parish covenant at the International Fair Liturgy in October 1983, and through adoption by a consensus of the parish council. After reviewing three currently available programs, the Kerber Model is presented which uses a variety of techniques to facilitate couple communication and discovery.  The model was proof tested in a retreat setting and results are assessed. This retreat is to reintensify the community life in a Catholic parish. Methods of study included: 1) Research on the theological understanding of community life in the parish and on the essence and goals of the Cursillo Movement; and 2) Implementation and evaluation of the retreat model designed on the basis of the research.
