Out of research directed to current use of television and video technology in worship and the church's historic relationship to technological change, the project analyzes the consequences of an emerging 'audio-visual language' and resistance to use of video technology in worship. A panel of lay persons plus a dialogue between biblical scholars made critical biblical scholarship available to the average believer using a video cassette recorder. Research involved perusing Vatican II documents and subsequent directives. Academic study of media production and related disciplines helped complete a new curriculum with a pilot video program which has been successfully field-tested.
