Spiritual renewal from short-term mission trips are a valuable part of the mutual exchange that occurs in missions today.  The thesis is that short-term missions can challenge a person's worldview, increase prayer life, and provide an overall commitment to the Great Commission. Based on oral interviews and written questionnaires, the research compares the spiritual experiences and perceptions of volunteers who have and have not participated in faith reflection. The research was undertaken in response to the challenge by local, state and national government officials to religious bodies who were encouraged to give their time and money to meet the needs of people which were no longer met through tax dollars.  A list of 98 different outreach services was identified.
