Surveys mailed to 10 per cent of the pastors in churches affiliated with Independent Fundamental Churches of America (IFCA) were used to ascertain styles of management practiced in IFCA churches.  Pastors were asked to choose which of five statements pertaining to basic management functions best described how they felt, thought or acted.  The overall picture which developed placed these pastors on a grid indicating their concern for people and/or mission. The biblical/historical/theological question of infant baptism is discussed.  A process is then developed for the discipling of parents to give them an opportunity to make a credible profession of faith at the time of their child's baptism.  The primary training is done by lay people.  A case study method was used in the evaluation of the program. The author is Episcopalian, and suggestions are made to adapt the model for any paedo-baptist denomination. Course participants were pre-tested and post-tested to evaluate course effectiveness.  A t-test applied to the sample test means demonstrated that the post-test mean was significantly higher than the pre-test mean. Perception and involvement patterns are examined when 1) a biblical-historical and allonomous setting (rule by others - divine and corporate); 2) a sociological-autonomous setting (rules self-imposed - empirical and congregant); and 3) a 'strong to weak' perceptual scale are administered to participants from two mainline Protestant congregations with allonomous and autonomous polity structures respectively. This study indicates that persons can find greater religious meaning in the arts when using a clearly defined theological approach which affirms the integrity of the arts and encourages critical theological and artistic analysis. Three primary sources of expectations are surveyed: the scriptures, Baptist traditions, and contemporary Baptist expectations concerning pastoral ministry.  A profile of contemporary expectations is available through international research reported in Ministry in America (1980).  Research among Mid-American Baptists by the author corroborates the international results.
