The process aimed to assist principals in Catholic education to identify their own faith development needs and to clarify their ministry in today's cultural climate.  The process was developed with seven principals in the Halton Roman Catholic School Board (Burlington, Ontario) from June 1990 to June 1991. A school-based COR was analyzed for its ability to enhance faith development using the faith development research instruments derived from the faith development theory of Dr James Fowler. It describes an exercise in thematic analysis through a collaborative approach using free association and life review. Using a study course, participants considered open versus closed churches.  In a leadership conference, board members were introduced to the implications of shared ministry.  In a sermon series, congregants heard about five church models: covenant communion, sacrament, herald, servant, and community of disciples.
