Therefore, their identity as Christians becomes impoverished and vague. When a Christian discerns a clearer personal narrative and how it connects with God's narrative, clarity, energy and an outward-bound expression of faith develops. A three week workshop with 13 parishioners was developed. Several instruments of analysis, within Kirkpatrick's Taxonomy framework, were utilized. Growth in people's engagement and understanding of Anglican spirituality can transform their lives, and those of others, empowering all to be witnesses to the gospel in the world. Using an underlying motif of Jesus' parable of the sower, eleven people were invited into a committed, intentional, creative community. Eleven weeks of catechetical work with participants focused on the liturgical season of Epiphany. Group work included engagement with and theological reflection on scripture readings, preaching, prayers, sacraments, the Book of Common Prayer, and creative worship planning. Participants were invited to engage a variety of spiritual practices via email and a Facebook (FB) group during the season of Advent (2012). The majority (88.2%) of youth completing the post-Advent survey relayed that the project helped them make time or find time for God in their lives. How could a congregation move from benevolent benefactor toward missional accompaniment? Surveys and an interview measured the impact of three interventions, Bible study, testimony, and prayer. Theological and Biblical perspectives included missional ecclesiology, accompaniment, spiritual practices, and liberation theology. Theoretical perspectives included post-colonial theory, change theory, and cross-cultural communication. The thesis project revealed an improved level of parental comfort having had the opportunity o reflect and reclaim their faith development. M. E. Zion Bicentennial hymnal. Key considerations were: How a companion could support spiritual benefits of hymns for worship; how a companion would support needs of worship leaders and congregants; the necessity of music knowledge for ministry; and how background information of a hymn affects appreciation for the sermon. The study was carried out at faith A. M. E. Zion Church, Atlanta, GA. First, it listens to the witness of women and genderqueer people about their own complex bodies, identitites, and experiences, treating these as primary theological text. Second, it employs a matrix for theological reflection, engaging the positive, negative, creative, and transformative aspects of embodiment and sexuality in order to create a liberative, eschatological vision. The author made a theological case for the study of martial arts style self-defense by faithful Christians.
