(1) A consistent, vertically-integrated ministry that recognizes the 'in Christ' relationship as sons/daughters of God and purposefully structures the church to foster that relationship in order to see life change (Christ-likeness). (2) The horizontal mutuality that exists between fellow believers in Christ and how that relationship fosters spiritual growth. The aim of this study is to show churches can use a mentoring model to help experienced teachers transfer practical knowledge to trainees and multiply available, trained teachers. A secondary aim is to show that the mentoring model matches biblical principles. This study, through an integrative review and critical analysis of literature, explores the biblical, theological foundations of teacher training, surveys the development of teacher training in the church, and based on the Bible and history presents a model for teacher apprenticeship. With insights from this review and an exploration of pedagogical methods, a mystagogy of the Sacrament of Penance was designed and shared with a group of adult Catholics. To counteract this immaturity, he designed 'Changing Christian Hearts and Lives,' group study material that offers a practical way for the Korean church to overcome this difficulty. Lay and clergy leaders in congregations must find ways to share key pieces of not only denominational identity, but also fundamentals of the faith. As well, we must embrace ways of sharing our individual and collective spiritual narratives with newcomers so that they can both connect with our larger spiritual narrative and tell their own. This paper describes the efforts of one congregation's attempt to work with key lay leaders to help them identify pieces of their Christian and denominational identity, to train them in telling their own spiritual narratives to each other, to help them experiment in interacting with and welcoming newcomers (offering those newcomers threads of identity and narrative), and to see what connections, if any, happen between the leaders and the newcomers and in the larger congregation. This thesis tests the proposition that lay leaders will feel more comfortable,competent, and authoritative in welcoming and integrating newcomers into a congregation if they are grounded in core components of denominational identity, can articulate their own faith narrative, and have engaged in Action-Reflection experiments/exercises with newcomers within the context of a formational small group. The researcher also assessed existing views on tithing by various scholars. The study used a pro-active research method. Questionnaires, interviews, and church records were the research instruments.
