The author employed a phenomenological method of research to discuss the caring interactions between the preacher and the bereaved. It examined the human phenomenon of grief and loss and emphasized the intentionality of the funeral sermon and pastoral care to deal with the phenomenon of the death of a loved one. Those who participated affirmed the importance of preaching in the churches studied. Areas of special consideration include the place of rhetorical principles in preaching, and the use of traditional evangelical invitations at the end of sermons. The study examines Christ's place in preaching persuasively, and the need for preparation for listening to sermons on the part of the laity. Women's ordination to the priesthood and acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle, together with threats to make the diocese conform, were the most crucial factors. This project used a quantitative and qualitative research method with questionnaires to pastors of twenty-four Korean American churches which have implemented, or are currently implementing, the EE program for spiritual growth of new and existing members. The EE program has two weakneses in Korean American churches. One is a lack of networks of relationship, and the other is a lack of training and application for witnessing as a way of life. This project shows that the EE program is a good model of discipleship for evangelism-orientation, if properly adapted to Korean American churches. EE is not a canned evangelism program, but it provides a good model of relationship evangelism. This project recommends that the Korean American church needs to make EE their own, and adapt it to their own contexts. Diocese of Sydney","Ethnicity","Christian sociology--Anglican Church","Church development, New"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The increased movement of people around the globe means that major cities have become multi-ethnic in nature.  This fact of multi-ethnicity in the Anglican Diocese of Sydney has led to the planting of ethnic-specific congregations based on McGavran's Homogeneous Unit Principle.  This thesis challenges the HUP model by examining the biblical theological framework of Christ's new humanity and understanding evangelism, conversion and church-planting with that framework. Field research shows that ethnic-specific church planting brings immaturity, ethnic insulation, and frustration for Anglican rectors. Chapter two examines the biblical foundation for Christian formation and chapter three explores its theological framework. The researcher was of the opinion that a few well chosen and developed ministries would increase male engagement at the church. The project proved to the researcher that ministries used in isolation to rejuvenate males and stimulate church growth fall short of their intended goals. They sparked interested and motivated the male members for the short-term.
