The intent was to create a worship experience that is vibrant and dynamic, thereby promoting growth and evangelism. For the purpose, first of all, this thesis-project examines the past and present of the Korean Protestant Church. Secondly, this thesis-project explores the spirituality of the Korean Protestant Church and the cultural factors which influenced Christianity in Korea. Thirdly, this thesis-project observes the place of the Bible in the Christian tradition and lectio divina in Guigo II's book, The Ladder of Monks. Fourthly, this thesis-project examines the relationship between lectio divina and non-Christian Korean culture, Korean Protestant spirituality. This thesis-project also suggests both an individual lectio divina and communal lectio divina for the Korean Protestant Church. To explore the role of denominations and discipleship, this thesis analyzes the relationship between traditional and contemporary forms of discipleship and denominational vitality. Specifically, it examines the role of the Advent Christian denomination in the lives of a group of worshippers at Northside Community Church. Using adult learning theory and social constructivism, this study reveals how one group of believers has constructed their organizational identities within the Advent Christian denomination and how relationships with other disciples who proclaim to follow Jesus Christ impact their system of beliefs. Even people who claim the Christian faith struggle with building healthy, happy, wholesome marriages that will endure for a lifetime. This deterioration of marriage tears at the fabric of the nuclear family, which also affects the health of the church family. In an attempt to curb the weakening marriages in my ministry setting, I proposed to lead a marriage retreat which focused on marriage as covenant, and which equipped couples with communication skills and conflict resolution techniques. My premise was that people can find hope for their marriages when they embrace God's ideal, which means living together in a covenant relationship and equipping themselves with proper relational tools. We examined how covenant theology and the theology of communication can inform our marriages. Some people who receive healing for emotional hurts through inner healing prayer relapse into past wounding behaviors. The effort relapse is first on the one who relapses. The second effect is on the healing community, especially the people in healing ministry who pray with them.
