The interview questions focused on signs of initiative, insight, and spiritual growth occurring during the pastor's 4-month sabbatical.  The exercise did not produce a clear articulation of the parish's mission priorities. The literature review, interviews, and focus group revealed shifts: in understanding the Trinity more relationally than judicially; in choosing to follow Jesus because of kingdom vision more than need of salvation; in shaping more through group manuscript Bible study than through a daily quiet time alone with God. The result of the research is that TITIP is a promising and effective program that achieves most of its objectives and in general adheres to good principles of teaching.The strength of the program lies especially in its spiritual formation and in its teaching of English. Factors that make the program effective include: native speakers of English as teachers, a student-oriented and interactive teaching style, dormitory living, staff are good models of Christian maturity and servant leadership, the practice of a variety of spiritual disciplines, punctuality, and critical thinking skills. The main concern about the TITIP program is that while providing a holistic training program there seems to be a lack of focus. The two objectives of TITIP are to prepare young Papuans for advanced study domestically and abroad, and at the same time to provide opportunities for preparing them to be 'change agents' and leaders in their own Papuan communities. Circles, a program of Move the Mountain, initiates changes in the community that result in eliminating barriers to economic stability. The Circles model partners families in poverty with United Methodist church members so they can work together to end poverty. This project compares the socio-economic condition of the families in poverty prior to enrollment and six months later. Issues addressed in the project include: 1) whether members of the local congregation have a clear understanding of the relationship between the sacrament of Holy Communion and the mission of the church, 2) whether a more complete knowledge and understanding of Holy Communion has an impact upon their perception of the church's mission, and 3) whether the way in which Holy Communion is practiced influences the way in which they attempt to fulfill the mission of the church. Preparation involved research in understanding the larger culture of our country, Maslow's hierarchy of needs, the context of the ministry and understanding a clear theological purpose justifying the project. Some collaboration between the Jerusalem United Holy Church and other agencies was part of the project, especially in identifying the children and exposing them to positive experiences. The project involved training mentors for the children by use of a PowerPoint presentation and measuring the effectiveness with pre- and post-tests. Some members who joined the church became part of a continuously revolving door, walking almost directly out the back door before their probationary period ended. Reasons given for their departures were no demonstration of love, service of unity within the congregation. Some members wavered in their spiritual growth as a by-product of lack of prayer and weakened commitment to their relationship with God. The intent of this project is to improve the spiritual health of the church by employing intentional discipline practices: prayer, devotion, meditation, worship. The research focuses on the spiritual transformation of the members based on past commitments to the ministry, devotion to God, present accountability towards the means of grace and personal relationship with God.
