It will be our goal to maintain a prayerful presence in the streets of the Washington park community from the time of this project's activation until the coming of our Lord. The prayer-walkers will pray for people, homes, hospitals, businesses, schools and all manner of social and spiritual conditions and needs as the Holy Spirit leads us through the streets of the community. Our focus area will be limited to a three-mile radius of Franklin Chapel: namely, the Washington park Community. The Sons of Varick (an all-male contingency of the Christian education department) and the Young Adult Missionary Society (an all-female department of the Women's Home and Overseas Missionary Society) will host six congregational reflective discussions ranging from evangelism to prayer-walk ministry (PWM). These sessions will be quite informative and challenging and will allot times for questions, observations and suggestions."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126781059661824,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:33:28.524Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:07:59Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:04:36Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1c749213-8a49-4eb1-bdf0-bd5eb792ccd6","accessControl_ssim":["cbcbb69f-14b9-49c3-8089-e74c2bc7034e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A program in leadership orientation at Plaza in accordance with the discipline of the UMC"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:07:58Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:58:11Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c03b31f3-f362-4326-8dce-f83387f60983"],"hasLease_ssim":["b8a2e285-0878-4ae4-86f3-7c21b06b2841"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Hood Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Albert J Aymer","R Mark King"],"year_tesim":["2011"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Fredrick B Bowman"],"publisher_tesim":["Hood Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","United Methodist Church--Government","Christian education of adults","Laity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"alternative_title_tesim":["Program in leadership orientation at Plaza in accordance with the discipline of the United Methodist Church"],"abstract_tesim":["The author administered this project to strengthen Plaza's lay leadership by providing intensive instruction on important aspects of The United Methodist Church and the common heritage it shares with all its local congregations. The researcher engaged the qualitative research design methods of descriptive survey questionnaires and group interviews in order to identify possible socio-theological reasons. The study included three groups of ten African American men: one group was African American men, 30-40 years old, who never attended church except for childhood exposures; another was a group of African American men, 30-40 years old, who attended church but stopped within the last ten years; and the third group was African American men who stayed in church over the last forty to fifty years. The results were analyzed by content and comparative content analysis as well as cross referenced with previous research results from church theologians and social science scholars. The socio-theological reasons identified are: a felt tension in his ontology related to stress on/from familial and ecclesiastical relationships and from the effect of urbanicity and region on his ontological, familial and ecclesiastical relationships. It concludes with an argument for the usefulness of this homiletic for any preacher open to learning from diverse wisdom traditions and two sample sermons that illustrate some of the Buddhist concepts explored in this project."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126565350801408,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:30:02.808Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:04:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:22:09Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ce8217e0-5e74-4161-8ca9-38c183382bcb","accessControl_ssim":["ef694d06-f1a2-4225-8a7e-4bc71084780f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Capitalism and the covenant community: a practical economic model for evangelicalism in the 21st century"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:04:14Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:03:08Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["20269c0d-797b-4909-8e5f-027d0dcae7e2"],"hasLease_ssim":["886e8f52-4099-4fce-b5b7-82907b62fe2e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Reformed Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Richard P Belcher"],"year_tesim":["2011"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Charles J Hartman"],"publisher_tesim":["Reformed Theological Seminary, Charlotte campus"],"subject_tesim":["Social Christian ethics","Capitalism--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"alternative_title_tesim":["Capitalism and the covenant community: a practical economic model for evangelicalism in the twenty-first century"],"abstract_tesim":["The thesis question focuses on the attitude of the Christian community in the United States to the economic model of capitalism and its principles and practices.
