Celebration in preaching depends on the preacher's capacity to fully personify the Word preached through content, method, experience, imagination and emotional liberation.  The author formed a Parish Project Group that worked with him to prepare and evaluate his sermons.  He surveyed members of his congregations and of other Seventh-day Adventist congregations.  The thesis concluded that greater emotional and imaginative homiletical development results in more effective, powerful, and persuasive preaching. Spiritually resilient people, however, use their God given strengths and faith resources to cope constructively with suffering.  This study proposes a four part homiletic method to enhance spiritual resilience focusing on the sermon's intention, desired response, flow/plot and congruence.  The method was tested by presenting a four-part sermon series to two groups. The answer was discovered through organizational research and interviews of leaders within thirteen parachurch organizations. Eight key lessons were identified: (1) The board is responsible for leadership transition. (2) Transition requires a well-articulated vision. (3) Transition must be an ongoing process at all levels of the organization. (4) Transition takes time. (5) The new leader's job description and profile must be developed. (6) The process must be well-defined. (7) Determine the role of the former CEO within the organization. (8) The respective functions of the board and the new CEO must be defined. It contends that examining the preaching of the first three centuries can assist the current preacher.  It further asserts that the preaching of the early church was more 'poetic' in nature and that by adopting a more poetic style we will be better equipped to preach in a pluralistic, post-modern environment and recapture a genre of biblical literature that has been neglected in the field of homiletics. Mentoring, or life-into-life ministry, is the most intense form of community and therefore holds potential to stimulate the most intense spirituality. In a survey of current literature, this study noted the dramatic explosion of mentoring into the everyday life of our culture.  The current relevance and effectiveness of the biblical, historical, and current insights on mentoring were tested among seminary students and women's lay ministries and a paradigm for mentoring was constructed from the results. Based on the results of the assessment, a six-week expository sermon series was prepared and delivered. Quantitative and qualitative evaluative procedures indicated that the series, informed by insights from the pastoral assessment, did enhance the congregation's sense that the messages were connecting with them.
