Surveys conducted with 80 Chinese young adults reveal significant differences between them and other members of their generation in the US as they search for their own identity between two cultures. These chaplains are sustained and enabled by a strong sense of God's providence and by a clear vision of 'calling' understood through a rather literal application of the Ordinal of the Episcopal Church. The project discusses worship among nineteenth-century Episcopalians and the church's place in the antebellum South.
