The author presents research leading to a definition of preaching as spiritual direction.  In addition, the author presents a pragmatic application of the theory to crafting sermons which have spiritual direction as the principal aim. By means of surveys, informal discussions and formal counseling, he discovered what his congregation thought about baptism. By interviewing local ministers about their views on baptism, he discovered why some in his congregation held non-Presbyterian views on baptism.  The author preached four sermons, outlining the Presbyterian understanding of the basis, subjects, meaning and mode of baptism, and compiled a workbook on baptism, which was used in counseling parents who wanted their children baptised. The Growing in Christ material, published by the Navigators, was translated into the Vietnamese language for the purpose of discipling new Vietnamese immigrant converts in Canada.  The case study and survey methodology were employed to conduct research and collect data.  The proposed discipleship material was field-tested.  Average and mean responses of the questionnaire were tabulated and analyzed. A descriptive research was used to understand their worship situation and the correlation between personality types and worship preferences.  A questionnaire and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test were used as instrument.  The study showed that, in general, members of CMinBC churches lack understanding of biblical worship. This conclusion was reached through a program called Reunion set in a mid-size denominational church, in a mid-size rural county seat town.  Attendance charts revealed an increase in church activity. Modifications were made each year for each group.  There was a concern that the experience be more than a course on the history, polity, doctrine, or theology of Methodism.  Instead of offering a class on information about Christ and Christianity, a process of Christian formation was sought.  Mutual accountability of the covenant group was combined with instruction on the acts of compassion, justice, worship, and devotion, in the atmosphere of faith sharing-telling the stories of our faith. Participants wrote a group covenant, met for 18 weeks for sharing, prayer, and instruction, and used the Sunday Lectionary for daily prayer, meditation, and preparation for Christian living. The final procedure included an assessment of the writer in the way he deals with conflict.  Policy was established, mediators were identified and exit interviews were conducted.  The process also proved therapeutic, reducing identifiable conflict.
