The project director utilized research in the field of visitation ministry to synthesize essential skills. The project director used the results of this research to develop lesson plans to equip selected members in visitation ministry skills. Selected members were equipped in visitation ministry skills in a workshop setting. This project began with the project director's research and ended with the selected members being equipped. The future work of the group is out of the scope of the project. To gain an understanding of the homebound, the project director researched and analyzed current methods of ministry to the homebound. Educational and homebound ministry professionals reviewed materials utilizing the development of the workshop sessions. The project director referenced the latest texts to explore methods and trends in caring for the homebound. In this project the project director explored the areas of visitation guidelines, effective communication, spiritual aspects, and maintenance of ties to the local church. The project enabled team members to locate and minister effectively to the homebound. Opportunities for role-playing gave team members enhanced ministry skills. The project methodology included PowerPoint presentations, role-plays, lectures, small group discussions, and handouts. The project included enlisting twelve facilitators for the inactive member visitation team.  The training encompassed four sessions taught in a single day.  The workship lasted five hours and the training module and the facilitators' growth were evaluated. Several types of evaluation were used including: expert evaluation, survey, post test, and pastoral reflection. The project uses teaching sessions, a seminar, case studies, group discussion, and role playing to prepare the students to implement peer grief counseling and home Bible study.  The project employs historical, experimental and descriptive research methods with two control groups and an experimental group, evaluating experimental group participants' growth in four areas. The project consisted of training for a telephone committee which would make appointments for visitation and visitation teams which would make the visits and report back to the church.  A unique element of the project was the inclusion of communication skills in the training adapted from secular sales strategies.  Procedures and forms were developed which aided in the structure of the visitation program.  Descriptive survey methodologies were used in the evaluation of the project.
