First, I examined the attendance records of Stone Ridge to identify family units and developed and distributed a survey to parents to discover the spiritual needs of families. Second, I explored existing family ministry literature, interviewed two pastors, and determined the best practices of existing family ministry strategies. Third, I recruited and trained a strategy planning team of five church members who assisted me in developing a family ministry strategy for Stone Ridge using the internal audit of attendance records, survey results, and a list of best practices in family ministry. Fourth, I presented the family ministry strategy to the senior pastor and a group of selected parents for consideration. The priority of any Christian church should be discipleship. Without discipleship training, evangelism, missions, worship, and Christians engaging in fellowship with one another, the church’s health will diminish. The mission of the church is to “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations” (Matt. 28:19). Because of this God-mandated mission, a curriculum for equipping members of the church to become disciple-making leaders is essential for longterm church growth and health. I trained selected Dorsett Shoals Baptist Church members to disciple new, immature Christians, and other church members who want to grow in their Christian faith. I developed the discipleship training by researching the area of discipleship and synthesizing the information into a discipleship curriculum to equip the selected members with essential disciple-making skills. The pastor of New Harmony Baptist  Church researched topical preaching, doctrine, and discipleship to prepare messages for the congregation about the specific topics of the doctrines that are foundational to discipleship. He prepared his findings in annotated bibliographies, reports, sermon briefs, and sermon manuscripts. He worked with a test group within the congregation to determine deficiencies in their understanding of discipleship and then brought a series of sermons to fill in the gaps in their understanding. The objective was to develop a strategy that balanced the grace of Jesus with the truth of his gospel, to express love to all while holding to biblical convictions. Based upon a strategy planning model, this project contained four phases. Initially, I surveyed the First Baptist Church  congregation to define the target audience and discover the church culture  relative to issues of sexual identity. The objective of the second phase was to determine best practices by exploring existing models of sexual-identity ministry. The information from the first two steps then informed the development of a sexual-identity family ministry strategy for First Baptist Church, including the selection and training of a strategy planning team who designed the ministry strategy. To conclude the project, I presented the completed ministry strategy to the First Baptist Church staff, who unanimously agreed to integrate the strategy into the church’s discipleship ministry. The project director researched the field of spiritual leadership development as well as Scripture to identify fundamental spiritual leadership competencies. From this research, the project director developed curriculum for five one-hour sessions. A total of thirteen members attended the training sessions. The first session involved defining spiritual leadership and examining the fruit of the Spirit in relation to spiritual leaders. The remaining sessions involved discussing the fruit of the Spirit in categories: the foundational fruit, the emotional fruit, the determined fruit, and the attractive fruit. The focus of the teaching was more on the character of the leader than  of the skills of a leader. The first phase of the project was  designed to determine the essential competencies for leadership development through researching the field. A second phase identified best practices of leadership pipeline implementation through research of existing models. The project director trained and equipped a strategy planning team to design a leadership pipeline strategy, employing the findings of the first two phases.
