Its purpose is to explore ways in which Christians may learn to pray with theological understanding. We maintain that we learn to pray as we work through our conflicts with God and the world.  Since we develop spirtually through combat with God, the more we contend, the more we learn of the covenant of grace.  This covenant in Christ provides the context for our spiritual growth since we cannot mature spirtually outside of God's grace. This report makes use of the theology of Karl Barth to discuss spiritual formation through prayer and service as a fulfillment of our covenant relationship before God.  The report also discusses the rationale for lay involvement in the local church. The model is a synthesis of Christian theological and dynamic interpersonal psychological perspectives.  Called 'Covenant Partnership,' the model is shaped by the values of love, justice and mutuality.  The model was used in two seminars for couples over a ten-week period.
