The curriculum challenges the participants of the study group by interpreting Jesus' death as martyrdom-as a consequence of his life and message. I am submitting the thought that we should be placing our faith at risk by making ourselves vulnerable to the needs of others. In my project, I have wrestled with who Christ is to me and to the church. This Christology is the focal point of my work. As I engaged and continue to engage in the struggle for the soul of the church, this project represents my work on this effort. Revising my view of Christ is central to this work. My hypothesis was that faith in God makes a difference in one's ability to be resilient, to spring back from adversity. I explored resiliency variables including childhood experiences, role models, personality traits, and different understandings of God. The diverse research identified numerous resiliency elements that were helpful to some and not to others. Consequently, each person had personal and unique resources for resiliency. My analysis resulted in the recognition of the importance of caring relationships. Individuals can help build others' resiliency by being effective pastoral caregivers, encouraging, available, and open to how God is working in lives of others."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["0f3d74d9-8a9b-4580-a458-c2d78a76b977"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799714991413133312,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:39:24.162Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:14:45Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:57:25Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"eb5c8682-b725-44a5-9bed-702852a00d3e","accessControl_ssim":["1915ba5f-84e3-4976-a2b2-e47efa4f2c63"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Aufwiedersehen: living with our losses until we meet again: a theology of pastoral care from an eschatological perspective"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:14:44Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:51:36Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c773e4f2-26a9-4ddd-bb65-539bfbbbe680"],"hasLease_ssim":["826274fe-c842-4634-9e8f-941635ed268e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["B Brandon Scott"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Stephen B Saville"],"publisher_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Pastoral counseling--Study and teaching","Church work with bereaved persons"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project centered on a workshop focused on living with our losses until we meet again; based on the Reformed doctrine of the priesthood of all believers. The hypotheses was that through appropriating tools and techniques from two secular theories - Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Therapy - people of hope, especially those who have lost a spouse of a number of years, could learn to live again, laugh again, and love again with the faith and hope that their separation is a temporary one, not a permanent one. The model was a blended pre-post Functional Change and Theological Appropriation of a Secular Theory approach. Though the ministry context could not provide a sufficient database to empirically validate the hypothesis, the participation of the widows and widowers interviewed prior to and after the workshop provided great insights for ministry to the bereaved and shared that their faith and hope was affected positively."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["0f3d74d9-8a9b-4580-a458-c2d78a76b977"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716125537206272,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:57:25.747Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:58:44Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:40:12Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"fc8fff9f-89c5-4de3-a265-a3d9ccabfc13","accessControl_ssim":["875ad4f9-b111-4d20-996f-3481f3528f85"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A post-marital church workshop for new parents"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:58:43Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:20:59Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["adb8d7f1-a40c-42a2-87fb-bd5cc7ae29d2"],"hasLease_ssim":["8b47e7f5-bb3b-436c-947c-30c039458a7d"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John L Thomas"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Kimberly Susanne Dickerson-Oard"],"publisher_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church work with families","Workshops (Adult education)","Parent and child--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The project evolved from the question: 'how can the church offer a post-marital group educational experience to support couples experiencing what researchers say is the first real challenge to marriage -- the birth of the first child?'
