Ch. 1. Introduces Mount Olive Baptist Church and its surrounding community. The demographics of the community and the church show that the congregation places its focus on the development of its youth and believes in the value of education. Ch. 2 addresses the biblical and theological issues surrounding youth. Ch.3 sets forth a paradigm for understanding the growth and development of youth. Ch. 4 Explains the process used in implementing the project. The pre and post seminar questionnaires and the focus group were the tools used to evaluate the effectiveness of the seminar. The final chapter of the project focuses on analysis and evaluation. This work contends that effective youth ministry must be done from a holistic perspective. A holistic youth program seeks to engage the young person at every level of their being--spiritually, socially, academically, psychologically, and physically. Two separate studies were conducted during the project.  An eight-week course for youth looked at biblical perspectives on self-esteem.  A ten-week class for parents surveyed ways to provide a positive environment within the home.  Questionnaires provided before and after the studies revealed that improvement was evident. The project met its purpose and goal, but the small population sample made statistical inference inconclusive. The Hudson Index of self-esteem was used as a pretest and posttest for two groups.  Groups A was exposed to the course which included practical instruction in hospital visitation.  Group B was exposed only to the pretest and posttest.  Fifty percent of the Group A participants experienced a signficant increase in their self-esteem level.
