The research involved measuring three goals within families: time spent, frequency of faith activity, and attitudes regarding the spiritual condition of the home.  Following a six-week focus of preaching and teaching concerning domestic faith ritual usage, the ministry resulted in a positive increase in all goal areas.  Each of seven participating families demonstrated positive improvement in at least one of the three goals. The concept of hospitality to strangers provided the biblical and theological foundation for this enterprise.  Questionnaires and interviews were used to determine the needs of church visitors, the effectiveness of ministries to these guests, and the influence upon church leaders participating in the exercise. The research method employed grounded theory, which is based on observation and moves from specific incident to general principle.  Exegetical study of Genesis 2:18-25 and Ephesians 5:21-33 concluded that God's intent for marriage was an intimate mutual community. An object relations theory study of marriage revealed that the primary human need to be loved and validated motivates marital interaction. The project led the deacons to discover their style for managing conflict, identified the types of conflict, examined the nature of church conflict, and presented various strategies which are effective for resolving church conflict.  The theological rationale for conflict ministry included three biblical case studies of conflict, the ministry of the diaconate, and a theology and practice of conflict management. Four films were used to deal with four topics. The films were: When Harry Met Sally, Driving Miss Daisy, Ordinary People, and Terms of Endearment.  The films chosen dealt with human sexuality, racism, dysfunctional families, and death, respectively.  Biblical research was done in the area of the church and images.  Sociological and psychological research was done related to students and the four topics.  Testing was done with a control group of 12 students and a group of at-large students.
