It aims to contribute to the spiritual formation of city congregants as they engage their neighbours. Using action research, sixteen members of a Toronto congregation participated and viewed their life as a context for mission. They studied Christ's discipleship in Matthew's gospel and reflected on the missio Dei, God's missionary character and initiative to redeem his creation.They partnered with agencies to initiate community service. This action research project involved qualitative inquiry, including action learning and appreciative inquiry. Qualitative data was collected through personal interviews, documents, participant participation, and researcher observations. Data was analyzed through reflective evaluation and content analysis. Six individuals and the researcher used the methodology of action research to collect and analyze the data. The data were gathered through written journal logs and group interviews. This study showed that hospitality is an inclusive practice. Secondly, there are four reasons why we should practice hospitality: hospitality creates a space for evangelism, is worship, is a spiritual dynamic, and is a practice that needs to be recovered.
