The inquiry built on the common ground for unity, offered an experience of cohesion for the leaders, facilitated relationship building and unveiled a story of their church in new light. It showed that Appreciative Inquiry can be an effective means for crossing sub-group boundaries and intercultural barriers. The author facilitated a series of seminar-workshops that were guided by two action research cycles and appreciative inquiry. Participant interaction during the workshops provided data which was supplemented by focus groups, natural observation and interviews. Positive mentoring relationships have been initiated that promise to lead to a mentoring culture in the context. A Church 360 survey was used to decipher the congregation's perception of their current missional posture. Then, focus groups were conducted to mine out missional narratives from the church's past. Finally, missional experiments were conducted throughout the community. The survey results indicated that people's understanding of their involvement in the mission of God was not uniform.
