The components of the 'Adaptive Courage' model include irrational thoughts, emotional sabotage, relational seclusion, volitional inaction, and spiritual inattentiveness with their counterparts ensnared opportunity, humble confidence, selective vulnerability, incremental tenacity, and simple transcendence. Ten diverse leaders participated in individual intake and teaching sessions and follow-up debriefing and assessment sessions. Citation knowledge improved but plagiarism persisted. In-depth analysis of student papers revealed taxonomies of poor English, poor academic writing, plagiarism indicators, and characteristics of plagiarism and fabrication. The researcher believes plagiarism results from knowledge, ability, or motivational deficiencies. People from around the world with different customs, values, and beliefs are now living in close proximity to each other. To effectively engage in ministry in such a multicultural context will require leaders to intentionally develop competencies for their intercultural journey. This research project examined how ten three-hour sessions of training delivered over a 16-week period impacted the intercultural competency of eighteen Christian leaders from diverse cultural backgrounds. Three conceptual models that were foundational in designing this training: Bennett's 'Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity' (Bennett 1998), Deardorff's 'Process Model of Intercultural Competence' (Deardorff 2006), and Berry's 'Model of Acculturation' (Berry 2005). Both the IDI assessment and participant feedback suggested a significant development of intercultural competency of the members of the study group, indicating that a training intervention such as this could increase a leader's motivation, cultural self-awareness, knowledge and skills enabling them to navigate the complexities of intercultural ministry. In Seventh-day Adventist schools in Ontario, instruction in nutrition has been inconsistent historically.  To start addressing this inconsistency, this project pursued the development, implementation, and assessment of a nutrition curriculum unit for grades 9 to 12 in Seventh-day Adventist schools in Ontario.  It was developed and tested at Crawford Adventist Academy. As a result the congregation's ministries have not been aligned with any explicit overarching vision. Ministries were sometimes not sure how their particular activities aligned with the larger purposes of the church. A process was needed to bring the congregation's leadership together to start thinking strategically and plan the future ministries of the church around a shared vision. A strategic planning team led the process by conducting congregational surveys, meeting regularly to pray, studying survey results and writing new mission and vision statements. The outcomes of this project include new mission and vision statements, a willingness to align the ministries accordingly, and a more forward looking, visionary leadership. Participant interaction during the workshops provided data which was supplemented by focus groups, natural observation and interviews. Positive mentoring relationships have been initiated that promise to lead to a mentoring culture in the context. From Romans 12:2 the thesis looks at how the church has embraced the patterns of the world and how the process moves them from those patterns towards Christ and his Kingdom values. Two (Action Research) churches went through the Looking process and developed next steps to begin participating with God in mission. The leaders developed three areas listed in Natural Church Development as being critical to a healthy growing church. A survey was conducted and then the leaders made changes to their model of leadership shifting from a 'top-down model' to a model that empowered others and shared authority. A second survey measured congregational responses to the changes. At times their role is not clearly defined. As a result some care groups function like a social group without spiritual direction. This research project addresses the training needs of care group leaders by developing a training program that attends to the main functions of a care group leader. The threefold office of Christ as prophet, priest, and king is used as a model to guide the development of the training program.
