Yet, in the Western, Middle-Class Church (marked by syncretism) the world's ways (which exclude 'inconvenient others') conflict with Jesus' ways (of embracing them). Consequentially, many Christians do not demonstrate Beatitudinal Character, the attributes of Matthew 5:3-10. Using Action Research, 11 drop-in centre volunteers, over 3 sites, were interviewed and surveyed. Auto-ethnographic analysis revealed that engaging those inconvenient to us could help in overcoming obstacles of comfort, self-reflection and incongruent orthodoxy, orthokardia and orthopraxy; in this way a disciple's character can be aligned with Christ's, helping the Church to regain an authentic mission."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Tyndale University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["602e7e7c-0b8b-4e09-af87-84c66ff49c48"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133410982363136,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:18:51.311Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:59:08Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:17:58Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"057af494-d21c-4448-8adc-81de391399db","accessControl_ssim":["6cf5b7fc-da2d-46e2-b7c3-8f573a8f088a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The development and evaluation of a Christian parenting curriculum to support and encourage the family to be the domestic Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:59:07Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:16:27Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["8d363a6e-3460-484b-a5e8-22cebe5c7c21"],"hasLease_ssim":["bb1cba31-3996-4fe2-b946-bcf6cc189542"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Tyndale University"],"advisor_tesim":["Tim Jacobson"],"year_tesim":["2015"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Paul H Miki"],"publisher_tesim":["Tyndale University College and Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Education--Curricula","Parent and child","Christian education"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The methodologies of participatory action research and curriculum development were used to develop and evaluate a Christian parenting curriculum, 'Parenting with Heart,' to support and encourage families, in their vocation to be communities of love, of life, and of grace, the Domestic Church. The study was an action research using a qualitative phenomenological approach. A reflective program, named 'Uncommon-8-weeks' was designed and introduced to the congregants to practice reflection on eight sermons preached for eight consecutive weeks. Research result identified seven aspects of post-preaching reflection: remembering, considering, connecting, self-examining, desiring, planning, and acting. Result indicated that reflection functions as a hyphen linking preached sermon to congregants as they desire to learn and apply Scripture."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Tyndale University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["602e7e7c-0b8b-4e09-af87-84c66ff49c48"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133545224208384,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:20:59.334Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:51:08Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:19:04Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1f5b9f54-8be0-48d7-97e8-c1fbaa710800","accessControl_ssim":["bab8db4b-d188-4c4d-abf6-6ded4661f10f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Building bridges: equipping congregants at the Kingsview Village Seventh-day Adventist Church to Build relationships with Muslims"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:51:08Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:03:55Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["cad023e0-0621-4fd6-970c-f9e2192f7778"],"hasLease_ssim":["a7643823-8821-4eaa-9649-2666481e396e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Tyndale University"],"advisor_tesim":["Francis Tam"],"year_tesim":["2015"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Reynold Hazelwood"],"publisher_tesim":["Tyndale University College and Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Interfaith relations","Christian education of adults","Kingsview Village Seventh-day Adventist Church (Toronto, Ontario)","Seventh-Day Adventists"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis goal was to equip Seventh-day Adventists congregants to build relationships with Muslims in Toronto, Ontario.
