Sinai Baptist Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The research methodology was qualitative in design and consisted of a pre and post test to determine improvement of spiritual hearing. The approach was phenomenological and the following instruments were used: Spiritual Evaluation, Sermon Evaluations, and Post Test Interview Questionnaire. Church leaders at Campbell African Methodist Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. participated in an eight-week Bible study on faith, love, and power, and the healing ministry of Jesus and its implications for the church today. Additionally, participants attended a focus group session to outline the healing ministry of the contemporary church. Study results indicate a renewed passion for ministry. Using the participant/observer approach, all participants kept daily journals, answered a questionnaire, and weekly meetings were taped. This project found individuals feeling closer to God, gender response differences, and occasionally, typical Appalachian responses. Storytelling workshops were conducted in which the participants learned biblical stories, reflected theologically about those stories and related the stories to their personal lives. A Bible study undergirded by an investigation concerning self-image in the Bible, process theology, and psychosynthesis was posited to enhance self-image.  Such a Bible study, with careful attention to using both hemispheres of the brain, was constructed.  The Bible study proved to be effective in raising self-image to a more positive congregants from being members of a local church to being disciples of Jesus Christ.  the methodology consisted of a series of classes and homilies that focused specifically on discipleship principles
