A qualitative methodology emphasizing a grounded theory approach was used. It documents the experiences of seventy-eight men and women, clergy and lay, who served in senior leadership roles in mid-level judicatories, congregations, and seminaries representing nineteen denominations. The study tries to ascertain whether experiences on these two different labyrinths are equal in quality. Is a walk on a contemporary labyrinth commensurate with a walk on an archetypal labyrinth as a path to inner reflection, healing, transformation, and contemplation of God? The study is not conclusive, but it does illustrate the fact that each individual labyrinth walk as with each individual's path is different. The researcher assumes a positive correlation between personal transformation and demonstrating Equipping Leadership competencies. Self-awareness is a fundamental component of personal transformation. The pastoral staff of First Baptist Church, Dayton, Ohio undertook a seven-week formation experience designed to increase their self-awareness around seven delimited foci. The researcher evaluated project efficacy using a mixed methods approach involving assessments and interviews. Traditional Black Baptist Churches in inner city communities are in a state of plateau and decline needing renewal and revitalization.  The researcher hypothesized that implementation of a strategic six-session Christian leadership training model would transform the church board from change inhibitors to change supporters.  A qualitative action research methodology incorporating preliminary survey, post survey, observations, and reflections was used to evaluate the effectiveness of this project. The study addressed the problem of transforming conservative attitudes about work and leisure within the congregation.  Project implementation occurred in two phases, a congregational survey and a Bible-based leisure counseling group.  Quantitative and qualitative data collected were analyzed using SPSS 13.0.  Eight hypotheses were tested, four were affirmed and four rejected.
